Solar Pontoon (SP) is a floating solar power plant. This plant can be placed at lakes and seas. The are several advantages of using a solar power plants in water.

One of the advantages is the availability of water for cooling the solar panels and other devices. This will lead to an increase of life time and higher efficiency.

 

Solar power plants on land need to cover a large area to harvest solar energy. Also the cost for owning/renting a large land is increased the last years.

This means that using a floating solar plant has not such costs compared to a land based solar power plant. However the pontoon has to be moored in order to let the pontoon not drift away.

The pontoon will also have an option to include a dock. This is available for recreational purposes. The idea is to have a recharge station for solar boats or boats where the propulsion is delivered by only electrical energy. 

There are not many of this kind of boats, but we think that in the future this will increase and to give an impulse on these environmental friendly boats we designed our solar power driven boat, the Solar Boat.
